Panoramic Gardens by the Bay scene during Singapore National Day celebrations

Hello Gardens by the Bay! 滨海湾花园! Taman di Pesisiran! கார்டன்ஸ் பை த பே! ガーデンズ・バイ・ザ・ベイ! Gardens by the Bay!

Garden Voice

Together, these voices affirm that this book is not a solitary endeavour.

My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has shared their reflections. I am honoured to feature forewords from Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education, and Mr Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay; their words bring deep meaning to this project. Discovering that my bond with this cherished place echoes in the hearts of so many of you — fellow volunteers and staff — touches me beyond words. Your stories breathe life into the Gardens’ tale and illuminate my own journey here.

I am also grateful to the visitors — both local and international — who approached us during our volunteering duties. Their appreciation for our efforts in maintaining the Gardens reminds us why our work matters. To my fellow volunteers and the dedicated staff: your support and companionship make every moment worthwhile.

This book is a collective creation, belonging to this community as much as to me. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support.

This Book is a love letter to the Gardens.

William’s photographs showcase the diverse displays, vibrant flora and fauna and dynamic celebrations over the years. The photographs also capture moments of joy, creative expression – even playful otter movements! – to tell the story of Gardens by the Bay.

I hope this book will inspire more to contribute in their own ways to protect and cherish the nature we have in Singapore, to create our City in Nature together.

Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education. Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration.

The author behind the lens

A patient observer of Singapore’s most visited garden landscape.

The author section is positioned as an invitation into a practice, not a sales pitch: the discipline of returning, waiting, watching, and collecting human moments in a public garden.

Use this area for the author’s biography, photographic background, and personal connection to Gardens by the Bay. The tone should remain museum-calm and collector-facing.

Photography showcase

Gardens by the Bay as place, encounter, and memory.

A single Marine South photograph now holds in the background for the full section while each text beat passes over it, closer to an editorial photo essay than a standard gallery grid.

01 / Atmosphere

The garden held in one wide breath.

From across the water, the conservatories and Supertrees settle into a single cinematic line: architecture, landscape, and sky treated with patience.

02 / Scale

The glasshouses become a horizon.

The frame lets the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, and garden canopy read as a continuous shoreline rather than separate postcard landmarks.

03 / Tone

Monochrome slows the view.

Without tourist colour, the eye stays with structure, cloud, water, and reflection: a quieter register for a book built around looking longer.

04 / Keepsake

A place becomes collectible.

The final beat connects the panorama to the SG60 edition: a photograph that can carry the memory of the gardens beyond the visit itself.
